MATTHEWS -- Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and belly elan maternity boutique in South Charlotte have teamed up to offer free educational programs to the community.

The partnership was created to bring educational opportunities to new and expecting parents in the South Charlotte and Matthews communities. The free programs will cover a broad range of topics such as what to expect during a baby's first week and navigating the first year of parenthood.

The series kicked off in April with a presentation by pediatrician Pamela Johnson of Meridian Medical Group. Dr. Johnson dicussed important things to know about a baby's first week including feeding, umbilical cord care and infant skin care.

The next program, "Motherhood: Tips for Surviving the First Year," will feature pediatrician Kimberly Lemaster, M.D., of Meridian Medical Group and will be held Saturday, May 31, from 10-11 a.m.

All programs are held in the Community Room of the Promenade on Providence at the intersection of Providence Road and I-485. The Community Room is located on the second flood of Building K, above Golf Galaxy.
