Presbyterian Sleep Medicine Services
Sleep has a tremendous impact on our daily lives. How well you rest affects your daytime performance, moods and productivity.
At Presbyterian, specially trained physicians and technicians evaluate and diagnose patients with a wide variety of sleep abnormalities and related wakeful disorders.
Some individuals know they have a sleeping disorder, because they remember waking up at night. Others may not be aware of their problem, because it does not fully wake them. People with sleeping disorders often feel tired much of the time or doze off during the day. In many cases, the pattern of sleeplessness has existed for so long that the troubled sleeper assumes everyone feels the same way, despite the concerns of friends, family members and co-workers.

What is a sleep center?
A sleep medicine center is a medical facility designed to evaluate people suffering from sleep disturbances or sleep-related problems. The center is under the medical direction of a board certified physician specializing in sleep medicine and is staffed by technical specialists trained to study and evaluate people during periods of sleep. A physician uses these studies to diagnose the nature of sleep problems.
Until recently, many sleep disorders were thought to be untreatable or related to age. With the establishment of sleep medicine centers and the recent interest in the study of sleep, we now know that many disorders can be diagnosed and successfully treated. You no longer have to just live with your problem.
